[ Thwarted. Again.

They'd laid the perfect trap, only to have their quarry escape. They'd hunted down the key necessary to end all of this, only to discover that it was useless to them until Donald Doyle was dead. Felix wasn't the only one frustrated, even if Locus was being considerably more silent in his rage.

It served no purpose to let that anger surface, not yet. Let it collect, let it focus. That had always been the plan, to push those thoughts down beneath the surface until it was time to put them to good use. That had been the plan. And yet things that had once been certain now fell under the shadow of doubt. Perhaps it had been their journey through the gates in the temple, or perhaps the parting words of Agent Washington. Whatever it was, it left him unsettled.

Even a few moments with Price to pursue the thoughts of the greatest living weapon of their time gave him no solace. The answers didn't add up, they didn't fit with what he knew, or thought he'd always known.

Doubt, like pointless rage, would not serve them. So he'd fallen silent as they regrouped their forces, and planned their next assault. Even as a man of few words, the complete lack of them was noticeable.

It was only a matter of time before Felix took notice, if only to direct his attention somewhere other than their continued failure at eliminating the Simulation Troopers. ]
